NEW YORK, October 6, 2011- Unified Field, the prestigious digital design agency based in New York City, recently created the unique Music Mixer interactive exhibit at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab in midtown Manhattan, highlighting the music of multi-Grammy® Award winner Alicia Keys.
The exhibit’s12-foot-long interactive table allows up to six visitors to collaborate on a “remix” of Keys’ 2009 hit “Empire State of Mind (Part II)”, by adding a variety instrumental tracks and adjusting the instrumental genre, style, and effects. The table uses an innovative combination of touch-screen technology, along with physical “audio blocks” to encourage visitors of all ages to put their own spin on the Grammy® Award winning tune.
The table, created by Unified Field for the Sony Wonder Technology Lab’s four story interactive space, uses a distinctive combination of cutting-edge technologies to inspire visitor’s to explore, create, and learn.
“The Music Mixer table was a challenge to create because it includes over 70 instruments that 6 visitors can customize while collaborating in real-time — just by touching the table — and without needing to know anything about making music,” said Jason Bell, Senior Producer for Unified Field, Inc.
Unified Field Managing Partner Eli Kuslansky added, “The combined technologies underlying Music Mixer definitely point the way for future projects — and it’s exciting to witness the buzz created by our exhibit. Music Mixer is a great example of the engaging visitor experiences at which Unified Field excels,” said.
The Music Mixer exhibit is the most recent in innovative projects executed by Unified Field, including interactive displays at IAC Headquarters, The Museum of Science and Industry, and the NYSE Euronext VIP Visitor’s Center, as well as work for corporations such as IBM, Frito-Lay, Hewlett Packard and Verizon.
The permanent exhibit can be visited free of charge at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab at 550 Madison Ave. at 56th St in midtown Manhattan.
